The RB-RPI.1.0.5 is a module used to increase the number of inputs and outputs on the Raspberry Pi. Each of the 16 pins can be programmed as an input or an output and they also have interrupt capabilities. This unit has a selectable i2c address which allows multiple IO expanders to be used at once.
IO expanders can be used to control LEDs, control servo motors, read buttons, control character LCDs and many other applications requiring a large number of inputs and outputs.
